Meet The Team
Andrew and Nikki Markham are a husband and wife team that combined have over 20 years of experience working within the Funeral Industry. Andrew and Nikki are qualified Funeral Directors who have both achieved The National Association of Funeral Directors Level 4 Higher Diploma in Funeral Directing.
Over the years they have both been honoured to look after countless families and supported them during what is often one of the most upsetting and stressful times of their lives after losing a loved one.
Their knowledge and expertise they have gained during the time they have worked within the industry allows them to provide families with clear and concise information on all of the options that are available. Andrew and Nikki pride themselves on providing a truly unique service with extremely high standards of care to your loved one, meticulous attention to detail and carrying out Funeral Services to a standard that is second to none.
Andrew Markham DipFD

In his spare time Andrew will be more than likely found with his Suffolk Punch Jim. He absolutely adores his big lad and describes Jim as being 'a Labrador in horse form!' Andy particularly enjoys going to shows with Jim and seeing all of his lovely fellow Suffolk Horse enthusiast friends.
As an avid kayaker and canoeist, Andy is often out paddling on local Suffolk rivers, especially during the summer, when he loves to go out very first thing in the morning to catch a glimpse of the peace and quiet of the beautiful Suffolk countryside before most are even out of their beds! Andy is also a coach for the local Canoe Club.
Andy has a keen interest in Martial Arts having spent the majority of his childhood and early adulthood learning the art of Karate to an excellent level and is a 3rd Dan in Korean Karate. He is often found sat with his children watching old Martial Arts films on a wet Sunday afternoon.
Nikki Markham DipFD

In Nikki’s spare time she will be gallivanting through the countryside in one way or another! A keen country girl through and through, if there is fresh air (and mud) Nikki will be there! Nikki enjoys spending time with the horses or being out with the dogs for the majority of her spare time but equally loves a good Netflix series and cosy nights in.
One of Nikki's more unusual hobbies, is keeping snakes as pets! Not everyone's cup of tea...however Nikki assures everyone they are 'fun' and always states how 'cute' and 'friendly' they are....???!!! She currently has two Royal Pythons named Voldemort and Spirit and a Hognose named Phoenix... however she is always looking for the next one to add to the collection!
She is an avid music lover and often drags Andy along to various rock gigs and festivals where she often plays the game 'Front Row Jenga' (much to Andy's horror, as he is pulled and pushed to get close to the front barriers with Nikki leading the way) but she also has a secret love of the theatre and the arts and will be in her element either watching a West End show or in an Art Gallery.
Nikki's other absolute passion is Travel. Her and Andy will often find themselves with a backpack, in a very non touristy area, in a random country, with very little planning having taken place other than a flight booked in....and a flight booked out! But this is Nikki's favourite way to see the true culture of a country. Her two favourite places to visit are the Lake District and Thailand. Thailand in particular is a country that Nikki is fascinated with, the Buddhist culture, the architecture, the wildlife and the landscape all draw her back time after time.
David Stanway
Funeral Service Operative
David is 36 years old and has lived locally in Saxmundham for most of his life. He loves living in Suffolk and spending time around the local area.
David has been working with us since 2020, he loves that he has found this wonderful career and strives to make a real difference.
Out of work, David loves to get on his Mountain bike as much as possible to explore the local area. David has a deep interest in Go Karting and any other motor sport and usually describes himself as a Petrol Head.
Should David not be out and about on his bike, you’ll quite often find him in his workshop tinkering with any type of project he can lay his hands on.
He enjoys a vast range of music from Rock/Metal to Reggae.
Olly Hind
Funeral Service Operative
Olly is 27 years old and is new to the funeral industry. He has been with us since January 2023.
Originally, Olly worked in agriculture but loves his new line of work and strives to make a serious career from it.
He lives locally in Sutton and in his spare time he can be found at local open mic nights playing on the drums with other musicians. He also likes dabbling in DJ-Ing and producing dance music.
Olly has a very keen love for sailing and when the opportunity is presented to him to sail, he takes it.
He has a heavy interest in Replica Prop Making, mainly from the Star Wars franchise as he is an avid fan.
This love for model making is not just of Star Wars. He enjoys the attention to detail, whether it be starting from scratch or a purpose kit. He enjoys this greatly and this is what you will find keeping him busy during the winter evenings.
Wizard, Merlin, Dobby and Spook
Four EXTREMELY important members of the team (or so they think) are Markham Funeral Service’s very own office dogs!
Wizard, Merlin and Dobby (right to left) are all Border Terriers who are regularly seen around and about in the office, often ruling the roost! They are all funny little characters that love nothing more than a cuddle and a stroke and are always on hand for a little extra comfort if you so wish.
Last but not least…. (and DEFINATELY not easy to forget!) is Nikki’s Sprocker Spaniel- Spook!
Coming up to a year old, Nikki is training Spook to be her gundog, he will (hopefully) mainly be found in a beating line on local shoots during the season, or picking up the odd bird, however…. he can also be found running riot in the office much of the time making everyone laugh as he goes!
